IMD Predicts Light Rainfall in North India for Next Few Days; Snowfall Alert in Uttarakhand & Himachal

Regions over Jammu, Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are very likely to see fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall and snowfall for the next three days whereas similar conditions are likely over Uttarakhand for the next four days.

Scattered rainfall and snowfall are very likely over Uttarakhand, while isolated light rainfall is very likely in north Haryana, Chandigarh, and West Uttar Pradesh

According to the Indian Meteorological Department's (IMD) weather forecast for February 24, scattered rainfall and snowfall are very likely over Uttarakhand, while isolated light rainfall is very likely in north Haryana, Chandigarh, and West Uttar Pradesh.

Furthermore, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall and snowfall is expected across Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh during the next 24 hours. IMD says that similar conditions barring snowfall are likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. 

IMD’s Weather forecast till February 28 

According to the IMD, areas spanning Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are very likely to witness fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall and snowfall over the next 3 days, whereas similar conditions are expected over Uttarakhand over the next four days. Furthermore, these areas are quite likely to have isolated thunderstorms and lightning activity during the next 24 hours. 

North Haryana, Chandigarh and West Uttar Pradesh are quite likely to see isolated light rain during the next four days, while Delhi and east Uttar Pradesh will see similar weather on February 25 and February 26. 

Meanwhile, on February 24 and 25, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and Sikkim are very likely to receive isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm and lightning activity throughout the region. On February 24 and 26, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are likely to witness scattered to widespread rainfall. According to IMD, thunderstorms and lightning activity are expected in the same areas on February 25. 

Furthermore, a western disturbance is quite likely to affect northwest India from February 28 onwards, according to IMD. Furthermore, light/moderate rainfall/snowfall is very likely throughout the Western Himalayan Region on February 28 and March 2. Also, similar conditions with light rainfall are predicted for the neighboring plains of northwest India on March 1 and March 2.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands, on the other hand, are expected to have scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall during the next five days, with the possibility of isolated rainfall over the region on February 27.
