IMD Predicts Light Rainfall & Snowfall in These States From 15 Dec to 17 Dec

The northern parts of Punjab-Haryana-West Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive light rain from December 16, the Indian Meteorological Department predicted. A fresh western disturbance (WD) is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from the night of December 15, as per the weather forecast by the IMD.

IMD Predicts Light Rainfall & Snowfall in These States

The northern areas of Punjab, Haryana, and West Uttar Pradesh are expected to experience light rain beginning December 16, according to the Indian Meteorological Department. 

Another Western Disturbance from the night of December 15 might create lower level Easterlies, allowing for cloudiness and light rain over northern Punjab, Haryana, and west Uttar Pradesh, according to the Met agency. 

The Weather Department's in its tweet said, the current western disturbance is expected to dissipate overnight, and lower-level winds will be a mix of westerly, easterly, and calm winds until December 15th. 

Since the current western disturbances are dissipating, stronger lower level northwesterly or northerly winds are expected to develop across the plains of Northwest India from December 17 to December 20. 

According to the India Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance (WD) is expected to strike the western Himalayan area from today night. As a result, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will experience light rain and snowfall from December 15 to 17, while remote areas such as Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad will also experience light rain and snowfall during the next three days.

According to the IMD, this is due to a cyclonic circulation that exists across north Pakistan from 3.1 and 4.5 km above mean sea level. 

Today’s Weather forecast 

India Meteorological Department said that the Western Disturbance is expected to dissipate overnight, and lower-level winds will be a mix of westerly, easterly, and calm winds till December 15. On December 15 and 16, the north-eastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are expected to encounter intense fog in isolated pockets, while Bihar, Odisha, and Jharkhand are likely to suffer shallow and dense fog in isolated pockets. 

On December 16, isolated light rain is expected in Punjab, Haryana, and West Uttar Pradesh, while light to moderate rain is expected in Tamilnadu, Puducherry, Karaikal in isolated and scattered locations. Isolated rainfall is expected across Kerala-Mahe and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next 5 days, as well as south Andhra Pradesh over the next two days.

The India Meteorological Department predicted that Northwest and surrounding central India will see no change in general temperatures over the next three days, with a temperature dip of 2-4 degrees Celsius expected after that.
