Despite a decline in mango yield this summer, the home delivery of mangoes initiative has been successfully carried out by India Post in collaboration with the Karnataka State Mango Development and Marketing Corporation Ltd (KSMDMCL).

This season, a total of 19 tonnes of mangoes were delivered to customers in Bengaluru, marking a significant achievement considering the challenges posed by the low yield.

The 'Karsiri' initiative, which was launched in 2020 as a door-to-door mango delivery service during the lockdown, has steadily gained popularity. In the previous seasons, the department managed to deliver 75 tonnes of mangoes in 2021 and 70 tonnes in 2022.

Despite the reduced mango yield this year, the KSMDMCL official expressed satisfaction with the successful delivery of 19 tonnes of mangoes in just over a month, from April 5 to May 12.

Currently, the home delivery service is available in 31 PIN codes across various parts of Karnataka, including Bengaluru, Hubballi-Dharwad, Mysuru, Belagavi, Mangaluru, Hassan, Mandya, and other regions of the state.

To place an order, customers can visit the official website of Karsiri at www.karsirimangoes.karnataka.gov.in. The website offers a variety of mango options, including 3 kg boxes of popular varieties like Alphonso, Badami, Apoos, Banganpalli, Kesar, Neelam, Himam Pasand, Sendur, Mallika, and many others.

A notable aspect of the home delivery service is the assurance of quality and safety. The mangoes delivered to customers are free from the use of cancer-causing calcium carbide for ripening. Instead, the mangoes are naturally ripened or sourced from KSMDMC-approved ripening chambers that utilize natural ethylene gas, a globally accepted method for ripening fruits.

With the convenience of home delivery and the assurance of safe and naturally ripened mangoes, mango enthusiasts in Karnataka can indulge in the lusciousness of this delectable fruit without any worries. The successful implementation of the mango delivery initiative amidst the challenges posed by the reduced yield is a testament to the commitment and efforts of the authorities involved.
