Lata Mangeshkar's 93rd Birth Anniversary: Modi to Inaugurate Lata Chowk, 40-Foot Veena in Ayodhya

PM Modi along with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy, and other political leaders will be inaugurating the intersection named Lata Mangeshkar Chowk.

Lata Mangeshkar the "Nightingale of India"

Today marks the 93rd birthday anniversary of the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the iconic singer.

PM Modi took to Twitter to honor the contributions of the legendary singer to the Indian music industry and her efforts to bring pride to the nation. Through his tweet, he said, “Remembering Lata Didi on her birth anniversary. There is so much that I recall…….the innumerable interactions in which she would shower so much affection. I am glad that today, a Chowk in Ayodhya will be named after her. It is a fitting tribute to one of the greatest Indian icons.”

On this occasion, a 14-ton, 40-foot-tall statue of a veena has been built in honor of the iconic singer at a prominent intersection in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will essentially inaugurate the intersection named Lata Mangeshkar Chowk. The Chowk's opening will be attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy, and other political leaders have also been invited.

At the city's Ram Katha Park, a cultural event has been planned, and there is also an exhibition with mementos from the singer's life.

Lata Mangeshkar, who was born in 1929, is well-known for her incredible voice, which has infused charm into hundreds of songs and continues to be a favorite of many people today. She was the queen of playback singing for many years. Lata Mangeshkar also referred to as the "Nightingale of India," passed away in February of this year.

Lata Mangeshkar was profoundly influenced by her father's career path as she started learning music from him at a very young age.

She has performed in over a thousand Hindi and 36 regional films, singing over 5,000 songs. The music biz was uplifted by her song choice and her skillful performance.
