PM Modi Inaugurates IDF World Dairy Summit 2022

The opening ceremony is underway at India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The four-day-long IDF WDS 2022 will be held till September 15.

PM Modi Inaugurates IDF WDS 2022 

The honorable Prime Minister officially inaugurates the IDF WDS 2022. 

12:00 PM Modi further talked about Lumpy Skin Disease and said the central government, along with many state governments are working on controlling this disease.

11:48 The dairy industry's potential not only boosts the rural economy but also provides millions of people with a significant source of their income all across the globe.

11:42 "There is no middleman in the whole process of dairy farming, and more than 70 percent of the money received from the customers goes into the pockets of the farmers. No other country has this much ratio."

11:36 He added that "Women represent over 70% of the dairy sector. They are mothers, daughters and sisters. And I urge the audience to recognize this workforce and strength that is women".

11:30 Modi said, "I want to talk about India's Dairy sector in front of all the dignitaries present here from all around the world. Today, more than 8 crore farmer families in India are in Dairy Sector. This can be a really thriving sector for all the poor farmers all around the globe. 

Parshottam Rupala Welcomes PM Modi

Parshottam Rupala, Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying of India welcomed PM Modi and honored him with a shawl. He said the government, under the leadership of PM Modi, has launched many schemes for the dairy sector, specifically mentioning the Govardhan Yojana. 

According to Prime Minister's Office, the last such Summit was held in India in 1974. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) stated that "the Indian dairy business is unique based on a cooperative model that helps small and marginal dairy farmers, especially women."

IDF President Piercristiano Brazzale opens the IDF WDS 2022

President of the International Dairy Federation, Piercristiano Brazzale, opens the IDF WDS 2022 with the presence of the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

11:08 He said, "We doubled our efforts to produce safe, quality, and affordable milk and dairy foods in even more sustainable ways in terms of carbon footprint and GHG emissions reduction, improving animal welfare and climate action that add up to the Dairy Declaration of Rotterdam"

11:10 "Our sector -all of you here present- is capable to overcome any obstacle no matter how hard and challenging it is and not only survive but become even stronger. Because this is how I feel about all of you us: we are stronger than before"

The four-day long International Dairy Federation World Dairy Summit 2022 started today, September 12, 2022, at India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.  IDF WDS 2022 is expected to attract over 1,500 participants from 50 countries. 

IDF WDS 2022 showcased the success story of the Indian dairy sector, which accounts for around 23% of the world's milk production, generates over 210 million tonnes yearly, and empowers more than 8 crore dairy farmers.
