In an insightful and thought provoking session during the second day of the Millionaire Farmer of India Awards 2023, industry experts delved into the crucial role of Vice Chancellors (VCs) in fostering growth and prosperity among farmers.

The theme for this session, "The Role of VCs in Fostering Growth and Farmers' Prosperity," brought together esteemed speakers who shared their expertise on various aspects of agricultural development.

Dr KML Pathak, Former Vice Chancellor of DUVASU, Mathura, took the stage to discuss the significance of agricultural universities in making agriculture a profitable venture. His focus included strategies on how new agricultural research could contribute to the sector, the development of new varieties of grains, and the pathway towards making farmers self-reliant in food grains. Dr Pathak's insights shed light on the pivotal role agri universities play in shaping the future of Indian agriculture.

Dr Rameshwar Singh, Vice Chancellor of BASU Patna, brought attention to the farmers associated with Krishi Vigyan Kendras and highlighted the significance of their contributions. Dr Singh engaged with the audience, emphasizing the importance of these Kendras in spreading awareness and knowledge about advancements in agriculture. The session underlined the crucial role these knowledge centers play in bridging the gap between scientific advancements and practical implementation in the fields.

Dr Nutan Kaushik, Director General of Amity Foundation, shared her organization's efforts in setting up agricultural institutes aimed at training farmers. With an impressive track record of having trained over 5000 farmers, Dr Kaushik also detailed the establishment of Farmers' Producer Organizations (FPOs) in Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. These FPOs are designed to propel farmers forward by expanding their expertise and ensuring sustainable growth in the agricultural sector.

Deepak Pareek, an agricultural technology expert, illuminated the audience on the importance of agricultural efficiency in boosting production. Focusing on two key technologies, digitization and biologicals, Pareek emphasized their role in modernizing farming practices. He also highlighted the impact of heat stress on wheat and other food grain production, calling for increased attention to mitigating these challenges through technological interventions.
