According to the Chief Minister's Office, more than 43 lakh farmers from all districts in Odisha, with the exception of poll-bound Jharsuguda, have gotten aid via direct bank transfer.

"Since the welfare of the farmers is related to the growth of the state, we began the new fiscal year by offering welfare support on the Utkal Dibas," Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik stated.

Odisha is now self-sufficient in foodgrain production and can contribute to the country's public distribution system (PDS), according to the Chief Minister, who attributed this to the state's farmers.

Asserting that the state government has taken numerous initiatives to boost the agriculture sector, the Chief Minister recommended farmers to employ more machines and advanced agricultural equipment.

The Odisha Chief Minister further stated that the state government is implementing numerous grain-based missions to boost the production of nutritious food in the state and improve farmer income, and that farmers are focusing on crop diversification.

Odisha employs over 73% of its population, and its farming population provides approximately 30% of its Net State Domestic Product as an agrarian economy. Every year, around 40% of the land area, or approximately 87.46 lakh hectares, is introduced into the agricultural sector.
