The Partners Meeting on Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana- National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) assembled in New Delhi, marking an important milestone in improving the well-being of rural communities. The program, chaired by Charanjit Singh, Additional Secretary at the Ministry of Rural Development, emphasized the need of collaboration in accomplishing Food, Nutrition, Health, and WASH Interventions (FNHW) goals.

Addressing the gathering, Charanjit Singh underscored the importance of exploring innovations within communities that can positively impact livelihoods, health, and nutrition. He emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to unlock the potential of these innovations. During the event, the FNHW logo for DAY-NRLM, ‘Sangathan, Swasthya, Samridhi,’ was unveiled, symbolizing the mission's commitment to integration.

FNHW Integration in DAY-NRLM

Smriti Sharan, Joint Secretary-Rural Livelihoods at the Ministry of Rural Development, set the context for the integration of FNHW in DAY-NRLM. Emphasizing the strength of women-led and women-owned institutions, she advocated for a whole-of-government approach. Sharan invited partnerships to enhance outreach to the last mile through cost-effective interventions, emphasizing the role partners can play in amplifying the impact.

Objectives of the Partners Meeting on DAY-NRLM

The Partners Meeting aimed to share insights derived from the efforts of women's groups under DAY-NRLM, focusing on raising awareness, promoting healthy behaviors, and improving access to entitlements and services in rural communities. The gathering served as the first step in drafting a comprehensive strategy document and fostering collaborations with partners to support ongoing interventions while ideating for innovations and research.

State Perspectives & Collaborative Experiences

The event witnessed participation from Chhattisgarh, where State Mission Director, State Managing Director, Ms. Padmini Sahu, highlighted the State Rural Livelihoods Mission's perspective on FNHW interventions and convergence opportunities. Existing partners, including BMGF, PCI India, and UNICEF, shared their experiences collaborating with DAY-NRLM and the evolution of FNHW interventions over the years.

The Partners Meeting signifies a pivotal turning point in DAY-NRLM's approach, demonstrating a strong commitment to prioritize FNHW alongside livelihood creation. By fostering strategic partnerships and scaling up FNHW interventions, DAY-NRLM aims to empower rural women, break the cycle of poverty, and build resilient communities across India.
