PM Modi Appreciates Grammy Award Winner Ricky Kej For Recreating The Indian National Anthem In London

Ricky Kej conducted a 100-piece British orchestra, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to perform India’s National Anthem at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, London.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to appreciate the Indian Music Composer and Grammy Award Winner, Ricky Kej for conducting a 100-piece British orchestra, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to perform India’s National Anthem at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, London.

Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) is Britain’s national symphony orchestra based in London. It was founded by the music director, Sir Thomas Beecham in 1946. From 1946-1959, RPO made more than 250 recordings.

After becoming a self-governing body in 1963, the orchestra has made numerous international tours and recorded extensively. In 1986, it became the first symphony orchestra in the world to own a recording company known as the Royal Philharmonic Records (RPO Records).

Ricky Kej

Ricky Kej is an Indian Music Composer, three-time Grammy Award Winner, and environmentalist. He has performed in over 30 countries including at the United Nations headquarters in New York and Geneva.

Kej completed his schooling in Karnataka and went on to pursue dentistry at the Oxford Dental College in Bengaluru. However, he did not continue in this field and decided to opt for a career in Music.

His album Shanti Samsara – World Music for Environmental Consciousness was launched on November 30 at the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then French President, Francois Hollande. In December 2022, Kej was announced as a UNHCR "Goodwill Ambassador”.

Responding to the tweet of Ricky Kej, the Prime Minister tweeted; “Wonderful. It will certainly make every Indian proud.”
