President Murmu Embarks On 3 Day Visit To Odisha

The President of India Murmu is on a three-day visit to Odisha. The president will visit Rainagar, Baripada, and Pahadpur from 4 May to 6 May.

Smt Droupadi Murmu is on a 3-day visit to Rainagar, Baripada, and Pahadpur dated from 4th to 6th May 2023. On Thursday, the president embarked on her home district of Mayurbhanj. She walked down the road and interacted with people in Pahadpur village.

Murmu afterwards travelled to her in-laws' home after receiving a formal welcome from Odisha Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallick, Union Minister Bisheswar Tudu, Governor Ganeshi Lal, and local MLAs.

The President waved at the tribal men, women, and children who were gathered around the closed road as she walked along it. It has won thousands of hearts.

Later, she went to the Brahma Kumaris Centre in Hatbadra to introduce the centre's "Addiction Free Odisha" initiative. Later that evening, president Murmu visited the Rairangpur Municipality's civic reception held at the Rairangpur Stadium in her honour.

On May 5, the President pleaded for Pt. Raghunath Murmu in remembrance of his birthday. She later went to the Similipal Sanctuary. This was her first visit to Simlipal National Park.

The President will attend Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University's 12th convocation on May 6 in Baripada.

About Droupadi Murmu

Droupadi Murmu was born on 20th June 1958. She is a former teacher and an Indian politician. She was elected as the 15th President of India and assumed office on 25th July 2022. She is the first person from the tribal community and the second woman after Pratibha Patil to head the office. She has previously served Odisha as a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly from the year 2000 to 2009 and as State Minister from 2000 to 2004. She has also worked as Governor of Jharkhand for six years. Before stepping into politics, she worked as a clerk (1979-1983) in the State Irrigation and Power Department and then as a teacher from 1994 to 1997.
