As the ambassador of the Agricultural Department of the Karnataka Government, B S Yediyurappa administration has roped in Sandalwood star Darshan.

As per a government notification made by the Agriculture Department, Darshan, popular in the filmdom as 'Challenging Star’, has decided to assume the role with no compensation.

The performer will support the Agriculture Department's strategies and policies and "reinforce confidence between farmers," the government order said.

"Darshan himself is indeed an agriculturist. To move this forward, he discussed the matter with the minister,' said Agriculture Minister B C Patil in a tweet. Patil, a retired cop, was also an actor.

This is not the first time a celebrity has been roped in by the state government. In 2014, actors Puneeth Rajkumar and Radhika Pandit came onboard as the ambassadors for the Right to Education (RTE). Recently, Puneeth was also named as the ‘development ambassador’ for the backward Chamarajanagar district.

That was not the first instance that the state legislature caught up with a star. Performers Puneeth Rajkumar and Radhika Pandit took the helm as the Right to Education ambassadors in 2014. (RTE). Puneeth was also recently appointed the 'Development Ambassador' for the rural district of Chamarajanagar.
