Satyendra Prakash Appointed as Principal DG, Press Information Bureau (PIB)

Prakash, who is renowned for his innovative work methods, received recognition from the Election Commission for his outreach initiatives to boost voter participation in elections following the COVID-19 outbreak.

Satyendra Prakash (centre) is a 1988-batch Indian Information Service officer.

According to an official order, Satyendra Prakash, a senior Indian Information Service officer, has been appointed as the Press Information Bureau's Principal Director General.

Prakash, the Principal Director General of the Central Bureau of Communication and an Indian Information Service (IIS) official from the 1988 batch, will succeed Jaideep Bhatnagar, who retired on Sunday (31 July 2022).

Prakash, who is renowned for his innovative work methods, received recognition from the Election Commission for his outreach initiatives to boost voter participation in elections following the COVID-19 outbreak.

He has worked for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for more than three decades. He has held a variety of positions there, including Additional Director General for News and Current Affairs at Doordarshan and Director (Media), Ministry of Communications & IT, and Ministry of Civil Aviation at the Press Information Bureau.

Bhatnagar, an IIS officer from the 1986 batch, was formerly the chief of the Commercial, Sales, and Marketing Division at Doordarshan News.

Additionally, he was the News Services Division of AIR's Prasar Bharati Special Correspondent for West Asia, covering 20 countries.

Prakash's successor at the Central Bureau of Communication will be Manish Desai, Director General of the PIB's West Zone.

Desai, an IIS officer from the 1989 batch, has worked with the Ministry of I&B's various media departments, including DAVP, AIR News, Prasar Bharati, and the Indian Institute of Mass Communication.
