Tata Group Set to Launch ‘Super App- Tata Neu’ on April 7

Tata Neu is the conglomerate's super app, bringing all of its digital services and apps together on a single platform. "Consume cutting-edge digital content, make payments, manage your finances, plan your next holiday or perhaps just your next meal – there are lots to explore and experience in the world of Tata Neu," the app's description says on its Play Store page.

Tata Group's super app Tata Neu will be available on April 7. The announcement was made via a teaser image on the app's Google Play Store page. It had begun advertising the super app publicly for the first time in conjunction with the ongoing Indian Premier League tournament. So far, the app has been restricted to Tata Group employees only.

Services Available on Tata Neu:

Booking flight tickets on AirAsia India, Air India, booking hotels at Taj Group properties, ordering groceries from BigBasket, medicines from 1mg, or purchasing electronics from Croma and apparel from Westside will all be possible via the Tata Neu app. The company will reward its users with Neu Coins for spending money on the app, which will be redeemable for services provided by the app.

Other Super Apps in India

Several other internet conglomerates, including Amazon, Paytm, and Reliance Jio, have created their own versions of super apps, which offer a variety of services such as payments, content streaming, shopping, travel bookings, groceries, and so on.

Why do Indian companies want to build super apps?

A country or region becomes super app-ready when a large portion of its population uses smartphones first rather than desktop computers, and the ecosystem of apps tailored to local needs has not evolved. India has already become a market where the majority of those using the internet for the first time make purchases using their mobile phones.

This is one of the primary reasons why Indian companies are considering developing super apps. Apart from increased revenue realization as a result of service consolidation, such apps also provide companies with large swaths of consumer data, which can then be used to learn more about user behaviour.
