Throwing Water Balloons Without Consent Might Get You In Trouble With Police Under Section 188

Anyone who throws water balloons at someone without their permission would be charged under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

According to Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, who spoke during a peace committee meeting held before to Shab-e-Barat and Holi, anyone who throws water balloons at someone without their permission would be charged under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

"Nagpur police are prepared to ensure that locals peacefully celebrate Holi and Shab-e-Barat," stated the CP. The CP cautioned that anyone riding triple seats on two-wheelers, speeding, and honking needlessly will face severe consequences.

"If a motorist is caught driving while under the influence of alcohol, we will investigate where he obtained the alcohol, where he drank it, if he has the required license, and other people will be prosecuted for selling liquor without a license," the CP stated.

The meeting, which included joint commissioner of police Aswati Dorje and additional commissioner of police (crime) Sunil Fulari, was presided over by the top policeman.

On the eve of Holi, police will be stationed at key locations around the city beginning at midday on Thursday. "There will be roadblocks at 90 locations around the city." Around 4,500 police officers will be deployed, including seven deputy commissioners of police, ten assistant commissioners of police, 40 inspectors, 208 APIs and sub-inspectors, 1,843 police constables, 190 women police officers, two State Reserve Police Force companies, Crime Branch, and Special Branch Police, according to Kumar.

In addition, a special 'Damini' crime squad would be deployed in the city to pursue out harassers of women. According to the senior officer, police patrols in sensitive regions have been increased.

The local police have also developed a list of 150 offenders engaging in anti-social acts during the festival of colours to guarantee a peaceful Holi. Since Wednesday evening, the municipal police have been detaining people. The CP has also urged folks to observe the festival of colours peacefully.
