Weather 2022: Fresh Western Disturbance to Hit India on January 6, Will Bring Heavy Rainfall
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that an intense Western Disturbance is very likely to affect Northwest India from the night of January 6, triggering rainfall in several parts of the country.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a severe Western Disturbance is very likely to impact India (especially the Northwest region) from the night of January 6, causing rainfall in different parts of the country.

On January 7, an induced cyclonic circulation is quite likely to occur over southwest Rajasthan and the surrounding area due to its influence.
An intense Western Disturbance is very likely to impact Northwest India from the night of January 6, 2022 onwards according to the IMD.
According to the weather department, extensive rainfall and snowfall are highly probable across the Western Himalayan Region on January 7-9, and will gradually diminish thereafter due to the effect of a fresh western disturbance.
Rain and Snow expected in these Areas
On January 7 and 8, the meteorological department predicts isolated severe rainfall and snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad. On January 8, similar conditions are expected over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Meanwhile, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected over the plains of northwest and adjoining central India during January 7 to 9.
"On January 8, isolated heavy rainfall is also very likely over Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh," the IMD said in a statement.
According to the weather department, isolated thunderstorms accompanying hailstorms are extremely possible across Madhya Pradesh on January 8 and 9, 2022 and over Vidarbha on January 9, 2022.
In light of the severe weather, the IMD has issued a yellow weather alert for Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan for January 7. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh would also be placed under this same watch. It instructs residents to ‘be aware’ of the local weather.
