Weather News: IMD Predicts Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall in Many Parts of India for Next 2 Days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on November 29 has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. While heavy rain is expected in isolated locations in south Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Kerala, and Mahe. 

Thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds are expected over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, and Kerala and Mahe. 

Strong winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph are expected across the Southeast and East-central Arabian Seas, and along and off the Kerala-Karnataka coasts, according to the IMD. Fishermen are urged not to go out into the sea.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in isolated locations across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal during the next 24 hours due to a cyclonic circulation over the Comorin region and adjoining Sri Lanka coastlines. A new Western Disturbance is expected to hit Northwest and Central India starting from the night of November 30th. 

On November 30, a low-pressure region is expected to form over the southern Andaman Sea, which will strengthen and drift west-northwestwards during the next 48 hours. 

According to the IMD forecast, scattered to moderately widespread rain with thunderstorms is predicted to occur across Gujarat, North Maharashtra, and neighboring parts of southwest Madhya Pradesh and south Rajasthan between November 30 and December 2. 

From the night of December 3, rainfall is expected to rise over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Odisha in the coming days. Another Western Disturbance is expected to hit Northwest India on the night of 4th December. The rest of the country will experience dry weather. 

Weather Forecast For The next 5 Days: 

According to IMD's 5-day precipitation forecast, minimum temperatures over West and Central India will remain unchanged for the next 48 hours before rising by 2-3°C. 

During the next two days, shallow to moderate fog in isolated pockets are extremely likely throughout Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, and Meghalaya, as well as Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. In the other parts of the country, no substantial change in minimum temperatures is expected in the next 4-5 days.
