Weather Updates: Severe Cold Wave Conditions To Continue In These States Till Weekend: IMD

On Wednesday, a cold wave seized parts of Delhi for the fourth day in a row. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a cold wave was recorded at the city's base station, Safdarjung, Lodhi Road, and Ayanagar.

The weather department further predicted that over the next two days, cold wave to severe cold wave conditions will prevail in various states and UTs, including Delhi, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. Temperatures are expected to rise slightly after that. Meanwhile, the weather agency predicts mild to moderate rainfall and snowfall across the western Himalayan area between December 22 and 25, under the influence of two Western Disturbances.
Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are expected to persist in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh over the next 24 hours, while cold wave conditions are expected to persist in isolated pockets during the next 24 hours.
Cold wave conditions are very likely over parts of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, and Jharkhand until Wednesday afternoon, and over Jammu, Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, and Gangetic West Bengal until Tuesday afternoon and are very likely to abate thereafter.
A cold wave is also expected in parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha till Thursday afternoon, according to the meteorological service.
Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are likely at several areas of Madhya Pradesh and in isolated pockets of West Uttar Pradesh over the next 24 hours.
Dense fog is expected in portions of Punjab and Haryana from December 23 to December 25, as well as over western Rajasthan on December 24 and 25.
Delhi saw the first cold wave in December this year on Sunday in parts of the capital, including Lodhi Road and Jafarpur.
