With Rabi crop procurement for 2022-23 starting on Friday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked authorities to guarantee that funds are paid to farmers' bank accounts within 72 hours after crop procurement, according to an official announcement.
The minimum support price (MSP) for wheat has been set at Rs 2,015 per quintal, up Rs 40 from last year's figure of Rs 1,975. The crop is being purchased in Uttar Pradesh at the MSP set by the central government.
"The money for the procurement of wheat should be placed in the bank accounts of the farmers within 72 hours of the crop procurement," the chief minister stated at a high-level review meeting.
"Officers should make all required arrangements for wheat procurement in their respective areas so that farmers are not adversely affected," he said.
According to department authorities, more than 1,48,383 farmers have registered to sell their produce thus far.
For the convenience of the farmers, a total of 4,593 centres have been opened, with purchasing beginning in 3,980 of them.
The chief minister further ordered authorities to ensure that harvests are lifted from the mandis on schedule and that all essential arrangements are made for the farmers at the mandis.
The food and civil supplies department, as well as the UP Cooperative Federation (PCF), UP Cooperative Union Ltd (PCU), Mandi Parishad, UP Consumer Cooperative Union (UPSS), SFC, and BFC, will procure wheat.
New technologies and devices have also been developed by the state government to assist farmers in earning the greatest price for their crop.
Biometric verification of farmers or their authorised agents at the centres is used to make the transaction.
Few days back, Uttar Pradesh government also completed the draft of the Atta-masala mill project in order to elevate women from poor sections of society. The scheme intends to give job opportunities to around 2000 women.
