In light of the severe Covid situation, the Rajasthan agriculture department is offering agriculture equipment such as tractors and sowing machines to small-scale farmers through a free rental programme during the upcoming kharif season.

From June 1 to July 31, the programme will be open to small and marginal farmers with land holdings of up to 2.5 acres, according to Agriculture Commissioner Dr Om Prakash.

Farmers will be permitted to use agriculture equipment such as ploughs, rotavators, cultivators, and seed-cum-fertilizer drill machines under the programme. A single farmer, on the other hand, can place only one order.

“Because the majority of small and marginal farmers work by hand and cannot afford tractors or other agricultural instruments, it was decided to supply these services to them so that they could finish the harvesting season with the least amount of labor,” stated a scheme official.

J Farm Services is assisting with the implementation of the scheme. On demand, they will provide 41,800 tractors and more than 1,16,700 agricultural implements to farmers across the state.

Owners of tractors and other agricultural instruments will be paid rental fees after the project is completed. To get the rental for the work done, tractor owners must upload a "happy code" from the farmer's phone number together with photos of the field before and after the operation.

Farmers can schedule services online at https:// jfarmservices.com or by calling the toll-free number 1800 4200 100, according to the commissioner.

Last year, during the kharif harvesting season, the state agriculture department gave free harvesting services to 27,379 farmers.
