IMD Predicts Severe Heatwave Conditions over Northwest, Central & Other Parts of India for Next 4-5 Days
After witnessing exceptionally hot days in Mumbai and portions of Gujarat two weeks ago, it's time for the northern and central areas to brace for scorching temperatures.
After witnessing extremely hot days in Mumbai and parts of Gujarat two weeks ago, the northern and central areas are bracing for scorching temperatures. The Met Department anticipates a heat wave in the northwest, central, and western India over the next four to five days.
An isolated heatwave is "very likely" over the western Himalayan region and Gujarat during the next three days, according to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Sunday weather bulletin. During the next four to five days, similar conditions are predicted to prevail over western Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Rajasthan, while heatwave conditions are expected to persist over south Haryana, Bihar, south Punjab, Jharkhand, Marathwada, and north Madhya Maharashtra from March 29 to 31.
According to the IMD, heatwave conditions are predicted due to the lack of an active western disturbance or any system in the easterly wind regime.
In the previous 24 hours, maximum temperatures ranged from 40 to 41 degrees Celsius in Vidarbha and Marathwada, western Rajasthan, certain parts of Gujarat, and western Madhya Pradesh. Other areas of the country, particularly the northern and Himalayan areas, have been four to six degrees above average.
"Isolated Heat Wave is very likely over Western Himalayan Region & Gujarat state during next 3 days; over West MP, Vidarbha & Rajasthan during next 4-5 days; and over south Punjab, south Haryana, Bihar, Jharkhand, north Madhya Maharashtra & Marathwada during 29th-31st March," the IMD said in a tweet.
Meanwhile, temperatures in the hill states of Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh have also felt the rise in temperatures with the highest reaching 34 degrees Celsius in certain areas. The IMD has also predicted a heat wave condition in several areas.
