India signs MoU with Russia for Commercialisation of Bio-capsule
The virtual meeting that witnessed the signing of the global MoU was presided over by T. Mohapatra, Director General of ICAR.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR) and the Russian company Lysterra LLC for the commercialization of bio-capsule, an encapsulation technique for bio-fertilization.
All agriculturally significant microorganisms are encapsulated using microbial encapsulation technology, a significant invention patented by the IISR, to ensure efficient delivery of advantageous microorganisms as bio-fertilizers to crops. Four Indian companies have already obtained non-exclusive licenses from the IISR to use this cutting-edge technology in the commercial manufacture of bio-capsules.
The virtual meeting that witnessed the signing of the global MoU was presided over by Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Director General of ICAR. Vladimir Zarev, the president of Lysterra LLC, which is well-known for producing crop protection products, Liudmila Alginina, the general director, and Anastasia Romanovskaya, the head of marketing, were all there.
According to Dr. Mohapatra, efforts to create new technologies and efforts to commercialize them should coexist for the overall development of the agriculture industry. He said that the desire for new technology among international organizations was a sign of its efficiency.
The IISR's microbial encapsulation technique was first commercialized by Lysterra LLC, according to C.K. Thankamani, Director of the IISR. She said that the institute was "proud" at the time.
