Weather Update: Cold Wave in Rajasthan, Mercury to Drop in Delhi - NCR

Many portions of India may experience an upsurge in cold. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) warned on Wednesday. According to the department, the lowest temperature is predicted to fall in various regions of India, particularly the North West.

In addition, the condition of a cold wave may reach Rajasthan during the next few days. Cold Wave is becoming more severe in several parts of Rajasthan. Churu was the coolest area on Tuesday night, with a minimum temperature of 4.5 degrees Celsius.

According to the department, cold wave conditions are likely to prevail in North Rajasthan in the next three days. At the same time, there may be an increase in rain-related activities across the Southeast Peninsular Coast and Odisha on December 9.

According to the IMD, the lowest temperature is likely to drop by 2-4 degrees in most regions of North West, West, and Central India, perhaps resulting in a cold wave in Rajasthan. On December 9, heavy rain is predicted in isolated places along the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. There is also a probability of intense fog in Northeast India over the next two days.

Favorable Wind Speeds Boost Air Quality in Delhi 

Favorable wind speeds in Delhi NCR have witnessed improvements in air quality by flowing air on Wednesday evening, where four 24-hour average air quality index (Akyuai) recorded 237. Air quality has also improved in Faridabad (188), Ghaziabad (229), Greater Noida (154), Gurugram (185), and Noida (186). AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good,' 51 to 100'satisfactory,' 101 to 200'moderate,' 201 to 300 'poor,' 301 to 400'very poor,' and 401 to 400'very poor.' An AQI of up to 500 is considered 'severe.'

The Ministry of Earth Sciences' air quality monitoring agency, 'SAFAR,' stated that 'the improvement in air quality is more than expected, indicating that the measures implemented to reduce pollution are yielding benefits.' The wind speed is expected to be moderate in the next four days, according to the agency.

According to Skymet Weather, there is a possibility of increasing cold in Delhi this week. According to the agency, a Western Disturbance is still occurring across Jammu & Kashmir and neighboring territories. In addition, an area of cyclonic circulation persists over the east-central Arabian Sea towards the Maharashtra coast. Apart from that, another cyclonic circulation is still hovering over West Bengal and Bangladesh.
