Cold Wave across UP, Northern India within Next 48 hours

Weather Update: According to an alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department on Tuesday, the lowest temperature across Uttar Pradesh is expected to drop by an average of four degrees Celsius as isolated areas encounter rainfall, particularly in west and central UP.

"Weather conditions caused by recent snowfall in the mountains will enable cold wave to sweep through the northern parts of the country. In the next 48 hours, average temperatures are expected to drop between 3 to 5 degrees," according to the IMD alert.

Across the state, the above mentioned conditions will be accompanied by heavy fog, particularly in the morning. "The weather will change across Uttar Pradesh in the coming days. We have warned the district authorities and recommended that people make arrangements like night shelters and bonfires," said JP Gupta, director of the state MeT department.

Meanwhile, according to MET data, the minimum temperature in Lucknow remained near 14 degrees Celsius, which is 5 degrees above normal, while the maximum temperature was recorded at 27.4 degrees, which is 2 degrees above normal.

The city experienced fog in the morning, but it cleared up during the day, which was a pleasant relief. The lowest temperature in Uttar Pradesh was reported at Etawah, where the mercury dropped to 7 degrees, 2 degrees below normal. Jhansi recorded the highest day temperature in UP, with the mercury reaching 29 degrees throughout the day, 1.4 degrees higher than normal.

Cyclone Jawad Updates:

The unseasonal monsoons have been predicted to continue for a few more days, according to the latest weather forecast. As Cyclone Jawad has finally weakened its grip on coastal states, its remnants are likely to bring rains to several states for the next two days.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that Cyclone Jawad has weakened from a deep depression to depression, before turning into a low-pressure area. However, the aftermath of the cyclone will bring rains to seven states till December 9.
