Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare on Tuesday (24 September 2019) launched two mobile apps i.e. CHC Farm Machinery & Krishi Kisan App for Geo-Tagging. Now farmers will have easy access to latest, high value & technical agricultural implements at their doorstep.
While launching the mobile apps in the National Capital, the minister said through CHC Farm Machinery App, farmers can choose and order the required machinery at feasible rates from the 'Custom Hiring Centers' situated in the radius of 50 Kilometers.
Tomar said till now over 40,000 custom hiring service centers have enrolled on this mobile application to rent more than 1,20,000 agricultural machineries & implements.
Krishi Kisan App
The minister said Krishi Kisan App will offer farmers with the information of best demonstration of high-yielding crops as well as seeds in their nearby area. A farmer having high quality of crops can use this platform to demonstrate best practices of cultivation to other cultivators so that they too can adopt these methods, according to an official statement.
In addition to this, the app will also help in geo-tagging & geo-fencing of crop and provide weather forecast message to growers.
The statement added that Tomar also urged farmers to utilize these services for betterment farming methods and thereby ensuring higher agricultural productivity.
CHC Farm Machinery App
On the other hand, the CHC Farm Machinery App is a multi-lingual platform, which is already available to custom service providers who can enroll and upload with geo-reference pictures of agricultural machinery custom service centers & images of machinery available in it.
This app will especially benefit small & marginal farmers as they will have easy access to high value & technical agricultural implements. The app will connect the farmers to Custom Hiring Service Centres in their area.
According to government, the Custom Hiring Centers, Farm Machinery banks & Hi-tech hubs have been set up under different Schemes like Sub –Mission on Agricultural Mechanization, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana & Crop Residue Management Schemes of the DAC&FW (Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers welfare) to offer Agricultural Machinery on rental basis to cultivators, who cannot afford to get the high value machinery and equipment.
