Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY) was introduced on 18 February 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Fasal Bima Yojana provides a comprehensive insurance cover against failure of the crop thus helping in stabilizing the income of farmers.
Objectives of PMFBY
The objective of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana are;

To provide insurance coverage & financial support to the farmers in the event of failure of any of the notified crops as a result of natural calamities, pests, and diseases

To stabilize farmers’ income to ensure their continuance in farm activities

To encourage them to adopt innovative & modern agricultural practices

To ensure the flow of credit to the agriculture sector

Documents needed for PMFBY registration
Important documents required for PMFBY are as follow;

Identity proof of the farmer such as PAN card, driving license, voter ID card, passport, Aadhaar card.

Address proof like driving license, voter ID card, passport or Aadhaar card

Photo copy of field Khasra number / account number is required.

Proof of sowing of crop in the field.

A cancelled cheque is required along with all the papers.

Points to remember

You have to take the insurance policy within 10 days of sowing the crop.
