Here, we are going to discuss about making really powerful compost using Cowdung Cakes. It is more powerful than regular compost, works more efficiently than traditional cow dung compost, can be used in any season for plants & crops. After making it, you can use it for even a year.

Unlike traditional cow dung compost, it can be utilised in large quantities during the summer and monsoon. It contains all of the macro and micronutrients that plants and crops require.

For thousands of years, cow manure has been a part of Indian culture and agriculture. Cow dung has a variety of purposes, as many of us are aware. It's used to make Vermi Compost, Cowdung Compost, and, more recently, tiles manufactured from cow dung. The dwellings are kept 5-6 degrees colder than the outdoor temperature thanks to these tiles.

Cow Dung cakes can be easily available to everyone. In almost all rural areas of India, all households have access to cow dung cakes. If you don’t have cow dung cakes then you can easily buy them from markets & nurseries. It’s cheap & easily available.

Let’s now discuss the process of making compost from cow dung cakes:

1. Cow dung cakes and water are required. The amount you need is determined by how much compost you want to generate. As a result, you can select the quantity that best suits your needs.

2. Pick up any bucket, drum, or pot you have. Anything large enough to submerge cow dung cakes in water would suffice. Fill it with enough water to completely submerge the cow dung cakes.

3. After submerging cow dung cakes completely, cover the mixture & leave it for 24-48 hours.

4. After 24-48 hours, uncover the mixture. Drain the water in some other container. Don’t throw away the water as it can be used as liquid fertilizer.

5. Start crushing the wet cow dung cakes by your hands to make a powder. The more fine powder you make, the more powerful your compost will be.

6. Add old garden soil in cow dung powder in equal quantity. You can also add Vermi compost or Cow dung compost along with garden soil to the mixture as it will help in the decomposition process. But that is optional.

7. Add some water to the mixture now & mix all the ingredients really well.

8. Cover the mixture & leave it for 25-30 days. You have to check the mixture every 3-4 days. Sprinkle some water & crush it by your hands to make more fine powder of it.

9. After 25-30 days, your cow dung cake compost will be ready for use. You can use it for any plant & crop. You can use it every season. You can even use it for mulching as it protects plants & crops roots from heat. It can be kept & reused for even a year. It keeps on decomposing as long as you keep it.
