Mandi Updates: Wholesale Prices of Mango Fall across Key Mandis

Among all the regions, wholesale mango prices in Kerala saw a fall of 20.82% to Rs 4,123 per quintal, followed by Punjab with a fall of around 7.7% to Rs 6,767 per quintal.

In the initial phase of the mango season, the wholesale prices of the tropical fruit fell across the benchmark markets of India, according to the data from the Agmarknet portal run by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. As of April 5, 2024, the monthly average wholesale prices of mangoes fell by Rs 355.56 to Rs 7,488.29 per quintal. Among all the regions, Kerala saw a dip of 20.82% to Rs 4,123 per quintal, followed by Punjab with a 7.7% fall to Rs 6,767 per quintal. 

Other states and union territories where the wholesale prices of mangoes slumped are Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, and Rajasthan. In Haryana, the prices fell by almost 2.1% to Rs 8,956 and in Jammu and Kashmir by around 1.9% to Rs 10,902. In Rajasthan and Delhi, the prices fell by almost 1.4% to Rs 9,129 and by around 2.4% to Rs 14,180, respectively.

However, the wholesale prices of the juicy fruit rose in Chhattisgarh, Goa, and Gujarat. In Gujarat, the prices increased by 20.4% to Rs 5,498 per quintal, and in Uttar Pradesh by around 3% to Rs 8,283. 

Mango is harvested in the spring season from March to June. Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra are among the largest mango-producing states in India.
