Agriculture Minister: Rs 8,000 Cr Agriculture Loans in Feb With 10% Interest

Andhra Pradesh, Minister for Agriculture, Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said that the government will waive remaining crop loan of Rs 8,000 crore with 10% of interest in February and credit the same to farmers savings bank accounts.  

The Minister addressed a Kisan Mela programme held at the campus of Acharya N G Ranga Agriculture University at Lam in Guntur district and reminded that the government so far waived Rs 15,147 crore of crops loans.  

He further added, that because of these steps taken by the government, the agriculture sector has achieved doubled digit growth rate in the State. 

The government sanctioned Rs 3,122 crore input subsidy to extend helping hand to farmers and another Rs 2,200 crore will be released to pay input subsidy to farmers. He also reminded that the government has released Rs 4,000 crore under the market intervention scheme for purchasing chillis, turmeric and maize crops, said the Minister. 

Agriculture Minister also stated that the state government is implementing many programmes for the welfare of farmers. Till now, 10 lakh grievances on the agriculture loan waiver had been resolved and disbursed Rs.725 crore to the eligible farmers. 

He further reminded that the government released Rs.680 crore in the last 4 years and purchased discolored paddy to extend helping hand to the farmers. 

Others present at the programme were MLC A S Rama Krishna, MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar, AP Mahila Commission Chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari and ANGRAU Vice-Chancellor V Damodar Naidu.
