The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the much-awaited date sheet for class 12th and class 10th   today. As per reports, the Class 12 board exams will start on 15th February and will continue till 3rd April, while Class 10 board exams will begin on 21st February to 29th March. CBSE has released the timetable seven weeks before the exam to give students sufficient time to prepare for the exams.

The Board said that the exam dates have been set in a way that it doesn't coincide with the dates of other competitive exams. CBSE had to rearrange the Class 12 physics exam last year as it clashed with the JEE Main exam.

The board exams will be held from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm. However, the students will get the answer booklets at 10 am. And the question paper will be given at 10.15 am.

It must be noted that the CBSE offers 40 vocational subjects for Class 12 while 15 subjects for Class 10. The exams for these vocational subjects will be held prior to main subject exams. This decision has been made after the Delhi High Court order said that Delhi University must set the cut off dates for admission to UG courses after CBSE declares the result including re-evaluation results.

Controller of Examinations, Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj said, "While setting the date sheet, the admission schedule of Delhi University was also considered”.

He further said that board exam results will be declared by the 1st week of June.

Meanwhile, exams for core academic subjects will start in March. This year students have selected 30,000 combinations of subjects in both the classes out of 240 subjects that the board offers.

CBSE has also amended the passing criteria for Class 10 students. From 2019 academic year, students will have to obtain a minimum of 33% marks in theory and practical together to clear the subject.
