The ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI) in New Delhi is pleased to announce a unique opportunity for teachers and young scientists involved in plant biochemistry, plant molecular biology & biotechnology, and related disciplines. The institute is organizing a 21-day advanced training program on ‘Agri-derived Nutrients and Nutraceuticals for Innovative Health Foods: Tools and Strategies.’ 

This program is sponsored by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). It aims to provide hands-on training in recent biochemical techniques, with a focus on isolating and characterizing nutraceutical components and enhancing processing techniques for innovative food products.

Objectives of the Training Program

The key objectives of the training program include:

  1. Hands-on training on recent tools and strategies.

  2. Visiting state-of-the-art facilities for practical exposure.

  3. Unique opportunities to interact and learn from experts at ICAR, IARI, IITs, and CSIR.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the program, participants must:

  • Hold a Master's degree in plant biochemistry, plant molecular biology & biotechnology, or related disciplines.

  • Have a minimum of 2 years of working experience in the eligible disciplines.

  • Hold a position not below the rank of Assistant Professor or equivalent in Agricultural universities/ICAR institutes.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit their applications online through the Capacity Building Programme (CBP) portal at http://iasri.res.in/cbp or via http://icar.org.in. After completing the online application, participants must obtain approval from their organization's competent authority and upload the scanned copy of the application through the CBP portal by November 20th, 2023. Additionally, an advance copy can be sent via email directly to the coordinators at vedakrishnan.iari.res.in or snehnarwal3@gmail.com.

Selected candidates will be informed individually, and applicants are encouraged to stay in contact with the coordinators for updates on their selection status.

Accommodation and Travelling Allowance

During the training period, participants will receive free boarding and lodging. Additionally, they will be reimbursed for travel expenses, limited to AC-2 tier train fare. Participants are advised to book tickets exclusively through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

About the Training Programme

The training program emphasizes the evolving domains of food and nutrition, incorporating advanced research methodologies such as food omics and nutrigenomics. The Division of Biochemistry at ICAR-IARI, with its well-equipped infrastructure, has been at the forefront of nutritionally related translational research. This initiative aligns with the Eat Right and Atmanirbhat Bharat campaigns of the Government of India.
