IMD Issues Heavy Rain & Hailstorm Alert for These Parts of India; North to Witness Heat Wave Conditions in the Coming Days

A fresh Western Disturbance is very likely to affect Western Himalayan region (Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) from 13th April which is likely to result in isolated rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm & lightning on 13th April over the plains of Northwest India. On the other hand, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty/squally winds very likely over parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and northeast India till 15th April with a slight reduction on 13th April.

On the other hand, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty/squally winds very likely over parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and northeast India till 15th April with a slight reduction on 13th April. These areas are very likely to experience isolated hailstorm on 12th April and isolated heavy rainfall on 15th April, says the weather forecast of Indian Meteorological Department.

Moreover, the peak activity due to this system is likely on 14th April when the Western Himalayan Region is likely to experience scattered to fairly widespread rain/snow with isolated thunderstorms/hailstorms, gusty winds & lightning. Plains of Northwest India are also likely to experience isolated rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm & lightning on 13th April.  

Heat Wave Conditions Likely to Prevail in Gujarat

Heat Wave conditions are likely to develop in isolated pockets of Gujarat state on 12th & 13th April.

Rain/Thundershowers observed (from 0830 hours IST to 1730 hours IST of yesterday): at isolated places over West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, East Madhya Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra and Tamilnadu & Puducherry.

Maximum temperatures were appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Saurashtra & Kutch, Jammu & Kashmir, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur while minimum temperature was appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over West Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh.
