On the occasion of 56th Convocation of IARI, about 250 students including foreign students will be awarded degrees. Thirteen newly developed varieties of the crops, vegetables, fruits and flowers will be also released. The Hon`ble President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind ji has consented to be the Chief Guest.
IARI as a Deemed University upto 2017 has awarded degrees to 8626 students, out of which 3892 MSc; 40 MTech and 4694 PhD which include 379 international students from 38 countries. IARI also awards merit medals and best student of the year award apart from 5 prestigious awards.
Dr A K Singh, DDG Extension Services, Dr Jain, Dean and Dr J P Sharma, Jt Director Extension addressed the Media as Director`s Press Conference along with more than two dozen divisional heads.
Dr A K Singh informed that in view of the Lab to Land to promote the direct interface of scientists with the farmers the scheme Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav is being implemented in 120 cluster comprising of 600 villages in NCR.
Dr J P Sharma, Jt Director Extension giving an account of the Sansad adopting villages informed that 4 such model villages shall be developed near the highways showcasing the IARI Technologies benefiting the farmers with the value addition for getting their income double by 2022.
Dr Jain, Dean also elaborated the Lab to Land Scheme that IARI is disseminating their technologies through Post Offices. IARI Post Office Linkage Extension Model has been up scaled with KVKs through identified Branch Post Masters (BPMs) and quality seeds of improved varieties were disseminated in 46 districts of 12 states.
The respective divisional heads also highlighted their achievements and answered the pressmen questions.
