  • Tamil Nadu Govt Launches Ragi Scheme, PDS Cardholders to Get 2 kg Ragi for Free

    The state government of Tamil Nadu announces the Ragi Scheme where PDS cardholders will be given a free 2KG of Ragi. The announcement was made at a PDS locate shop near Ooty on Wednesday. K.R. Periyakaruppan, (Minister for Cooperatives) and K. Ramachandran, (Tourism Minister) and R. Sakkarapani (Food and Consumer Protection Minister) introduced the Ragi scheme under which the Public Distribution System (PDS) cardholders will get 2 kg of ragi for free.

     

  • Telangana Should Bring In Its Own Crop Insurance Scheme, Says Experts

    Experts and activists says that Telangana should introduce its own crop insurance scheme as the state has opted to withdraw the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bina Yojana in 2020. Telangana is one of the many states and districts that have experienced crop loss in recent months due to unseasonal rains and hailstorms. With the losses of the crop, implementing an insurance scheme for crops is now a topic of discussion. Earlier, Telangana was included in the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bina Yojana which is also known as (PMFBY). After 2020, the states were allowed to continue or withdraw from the scheme and Telangana opted to discontinue the scheme.

     

  • Sitharaman Urges WTO to Reconsider Farm Subsidies with an Open Mind

    During the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Governor's seminar on "Policies to Support Asia's Rebound," Sitharaman expressed that it would be advantageous for the world to discover a solution through the WTO as soon as possible. According to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the World Trade Organization (WTO) should consider the issue of farm subsidies with an impartial approach. This is essential as it has a significant impact on the food security requirements of developing economies in the current context of the Covid pandemic and the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

     

  • Rupala Launches Nationwide AHDF KCC Campaign to Provide KCC to All Eligible Farmers

    In commemoration of ‘Aazadi Ka Amrit Mahostav,’ the Union Cabinet Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Parshottam Rupala, virtually launched the Nationwide AHDF KCC Campaign for 2023-24 on May 3, 2023, at 9:30 AM. During the event, he will also engage with beneficiaries of AHDF-KCC who are connected through CSC and State Animal Husbandry Department. This initiative aims to provide Kisan Credit Card (KCC) facilities to all small landless farmers involved in animal husbandry and fisheries activities.
