New Crop Insurance Scheme Underway in Telangana, Says Agriculture Minister
Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy criticized the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) introduced by the Modi government, stating that it had failed to effectively assist farmers during times of need. He announced that the State government was actively developing a comprehensive crop insurance scheme to better support farmers in situations of natural calamities.

CeRA Libraries Providing Research Data to ICAR, Agriculture Universities, State Government
CeRA for ICAR: With the rapid growth of internet facilities and the advancement of web technology, farmers can effortlessly acquire information from a number of agricultural journals and researchers. However, no State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) or ICAR Institutes could subscribe to all journals due to the financial crisis. Therefore, the Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture (CeRA) was established.

Tomato Cultivation Commences Using the Israeli Agricultural Approach
A farmer located in Kanjikuzhy, Alappuzha, has adopted the innovative Israeli farming model to cultivate tomatoes. The inaugural event for this experimental project was graced by Agriculture Minister P. Prasad, who planted a seedling on Sunday to mark the occasion. The unique approach involves cultivating tomatoes within specially designed mini poly houses. The seedlings are placed on raised beds and shielded with mulching sheets.

IISER-Bhopal Genetic Dept Discovers Peacock's Feather Enigma
Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Bhopal (IISER Bhopal) Researchers from the MetaBioSys Group have for the first time constructed a high-quality genome assembly to decipher the genetic secrets of India's national bird. In an earlier study, the research team had constructed the first draft assembly of this bird species to perform a comprehensive genome-wide analysis, comparing the peacock genome with those of five other bird species.
