  • Govt Plans To Reduce Import Dependence On Palm Oil By 25-30%

    Government is aiming at reducing import dependence on palm oil by 25 to 30% through the production of 2.8 million tonne (MT) of oil by 2030 under the National Edible Oil Mission. In the seventh meeting of the governing council of Niti Aayog, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed achieving self-sufficiency in oilseeds, pulses and other crops.

  • Production Of 3Ms-Maize, Moong, & Mustard, Should Be Promoted Rather Than Wheat & Rice

    In a big way the Union Agriculture Ministry is promoting farmers to increase their income and achieve self-sufficiency in the cultivation of edible oils, maize, mustard and moong. On this, A K Singh, the Agriculture Commissioner for the Government of India and the Deputy Director General ICAR, also advocated the use of technologies like drones in the agricultural sector. Ak Singh said "Crop diversification must be aggressively promoted. The production of the 3Ms-Maize, moong, and mustard, should be promoted rather than wheat and rice since it may assist the nation to achieve self-sufficiency and at the same time help to increase the income of farmers.

  • Central Government Restrict Maida, Suji Exports From Today Onwards

    Central Government effectively restricting the shipments of atta and maida. Export of maida and suji will be allowed only after an inter-ministerial panel approves it. According to traders, atta export in retail packs is not more than 75,000 tonnes per year as it is mostly consumed by Indians abroad.

  • Agriculture Minister Launches ‘Lumpi-ProVacInd,’ an Indigenous Vaccine for Lumpy Skin Disease

    Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar, launched the indigenous vaccine Lumpi-ProVacInd to protect livestock from Lumpy Skin disease, providing significant relief to the country's livestock. The vaccine was developed in collaboration with the Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izzatnagar (Bareilly), by the National Equine Research Center, Hisar (Haryana).

  • Agri Ministry Reduces Time Limit For Tractor Testing Process

    During the celebration of the "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav" in the 75th year of India’s Independence. Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has reduced the time limit for the testing process of tractors used for Agriculture from nine months to just 75 working days. This development comes as a big gift for the agriculture sector. Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the Ministry / Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare have taken this initiative in order to promote mechanization in the agriculture sector in the country and to ensure the availability of suitable tractors for the farmers.
