ICAR-CIFE Announces Endowment Awards to Recognize Fisheries Sciences Research Contributions
ICAR-CIFE has instituted Endowment Awards, to be given every year, to recognise significant research contributions in the field of fisheries sciences. The Awards are meant to reward budding talent and encourage young scholars to further excel, and contribute to the growth of the knowledge-driven fisheries sector. The following Awards are being announced for the year 2024.

Mahindra Tractors Crosses Milestone by Selling 40 Lakh Tractor Units
Mahindra Tractors, part of the Mahindra Group and the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume, has achieved a milestone by selling the brand's 40th lakh tractor, inclusive of exports in March 2024. The Mahindra Yuvo Tech Plus, based on Mahindra’s next-generation Yuvo tractor platform, marks this milestone, having rolled out from Mahindra’s Zaheerabad facility, Mahindra’s youngest tractor facility and a global production hub for Mahindra Tractors.

Enhancing Crop Weeding Efficiency through Bioengineering and AI Integration: Study
Scientists are proposing groundbreaking strategies to revolutionize crop management through bioengineering and artificial intelligence (AI). The objective is clear: to facilitate weeding by genetically modifying crops to be visually distinct from weeds, thus enabling precision weed control without resorting to herbicides. To address the challenge of distinguishing newly domesticated crops from their wild counterparts, researchers advocate for introducing specific traits into de novo crops. These traits, expressed through genetic modifications, aim to enhance visual recognition by weeding robots trained using machine learning algorithms.

Students who appeared for the Punjab Board Class 10 examinations can now access their results on the official PSEB website at pseb.ac.in. With a commendable pass rate of 97.24%, this year's results showcase the dedication and hard work of students across Punjab. The top rank has been secured by a talented student from Ludhiana, marking a significant achievement.

Climate Change to Cause 19% Global Income Reduction by 2050, Finds Study
A recent study published in the prestigious journal "Nature" reveals alarming projections about the economic impact of climate change. The study was conducted by scientists from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and warns that even if CO2 emissions are dramatically reduced starting today, the global economy is still poised to suffer a substantial income reduction of 19% by 2050 due to the effects of climate change. The damages are estimated to be six times larger than the costs required to mitigate global warming to two degrees Celsius.
