  • 'Fertilizers Subsidy Increases From Rs 73000 cr to Rs 255000 cr', Says Union Minister Amit Shah at IFFCO's Nano DAP Inauguration

    Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, along with Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Mansukh Mandaviya, inaugurated IFFCO's Nano DAP (Liquid) Plant in Kalol, Gandhinagar, Gujarat on October 24. The event was attended by several dignitaries, marking a significant milestone in the agricultural sector. Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration program, Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended his warm Dussehra greetings to the nation and emphasized the cultural significance of the day, highlighting its association with the victory of good over evil. He noted that Dussehra commemorates the day when Lord Shri Ram defeated Ravana and Mahishasura, while also celebrating the birth anniversary of the legendary freedom fighter, Captain Lakshmi Sehgal, who played a pivotal role in India's fight for independence alongside Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

  • NIFPHATT Organizes Workshop on Matsya Sampada Jagrukta Abhiyan at Kochi

    The National Institute of Fisheries Post Harvest Technology and Training (NIFPHATT), a part of the Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Government of India, recently organized a workshop to showcase the achievements in the country's fisheries sector and the success stories of the Department of Fisheries and its institutions. This initiative, known as ‘Matsya Sampada Jagrukta Abhiyan’ (MSJA), was launched on September 15, 2023, as an outreach program aimed at reaching fish farmers and 3,477 coastal villages across the nation. The primary objective of the workshop was to promote various fisheries schemes, highlight diverse fisheries activities, raise awareness among fishers and coastal communities, and showcase sectoral achievements and success stories.

  • CSIR-NIScPR and KAMP Inspire Students in Knowledge Sharing Session on Millets

    In a joint effort to commemorate the International Year of Millets, CSIR - National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) and the Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform (KAMP) recently conducted a knowledge-sharing session. This event celebrated India's successful proposal to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for the observance of 2023 as the International Year of Millets. The session was designed to enlighten students about the vital role millets play in agriculture, nutrition, and sustainable development. The event was skillfully hosted by Aniket Arora, Outreach Coordinator at KAMP. Dr. Charu Lata, Principal Scientist at CSIR-NIScPR, addressed an audience of more than 500 students ranging from classes 5th to 12th, representing various regions of India. The workshop's objective was to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of millets, spanning their definition, historical significance in India, various types, manifold benefits, and versatile applications.

  • MFOI 2023 National, State Coordinators' List Released

    The Millionaire Farmer of India Awards is all set to be conducted from December 6 to 8, 2023, celebrating the hard work of farmers who have made it big in the field of agriculture. MFOI 2023 has a vast list of participants. The awards will be distributed in 25 categories. Puneet Singh Thind is certified in Export Management. He is presently working in collectivisation of farmers by promoting Farmers Producer Organizations- FPOs in India. Dr. Raja Ram Tripathi is popularly known as the Green Warrior of India. He has conserved about 250 plant species out of 400 (usually extinct) species included in the Red Data Book by the United Nations and has contributed significantly towards environmental protection by planting 3.4 lakh trees.

  • Wagh Bakri Executive Director Parag Desai Passes Away After Street Dog Attack

    Wagh Bakri Executive Director Parag Desai on Sunday, October 22, 2023, passed away at a private hospital in Ahmedabad. He was 49 years old. He is survived by his wife Vidisha and daughter Parisha. While he was trying to escape street dogs on October 15, he suffered a brain hemorrhage outside his residence. He was immediately rushed to Shelby Hospital for treatment. He was later moved to Zydus Hospital for surgery. He was kept on a ventilator for at least seven days before his death. His last rites were performed at the Thaltej crematorium at 9 a.m. today. His father Rasesh Desai was the Managing Director of Wagh Bakri Tea Group. In a span of 30 years, he took the company to new heights at a turnover of Rs 1500 crore. He was an eminent tea taster as well as a member of several organisations, including the Federation of Indian Industry (CII). He is an MBA from Long Island University, USA.
