  • Alert! Vegetable price increases in Delhi

    The prices of vegetables have sharply increased in Delhi. Vegetable sellers at Daryaganj vegetable, said that the price of potatoes have risen owing to the limited stock and new arrival is taking time while price of onions has increased to more than twice the previous one because of rainfall and hoarding.

  • These States will receive heavy rainfall and thunderstorms for next 2-3 days: IMD

    According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), widespread heavy rainfall is likely in peninsular India for the next 2-3 days. The monsoon trough at present is lying north of its normal position i.e. from Rajasthan’s Ganganagar to the Bay of Bengal. In addition, a low-pressure area is over south-east and neighbouring east-central Arabian Sea. It is expected to move slightly northwards during the next 2 days and weaken thereafter.

    Under its influence, there will be widespread and isolated heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms over peninsular India during the next 2-3 days.

    India has overtaken Brazil to become the country with the second-largest number of people infected with novel coronavirus. As per reports, more than 41.13 lakh people in India have been recently found infected with the virus. According to the latest figures from the World Health Organisation, Brazil has 40.41 lakh infected people. 

  • Jharkhand growers allege fertilizer price hike, Suspends 500 dealers

    Amid the corona crisis, Jharkhand farmers who have sown 16.66% more crops this kharif season compared to previous year, have alleged facing shortage of fertilizer, or being forced to buy it at a high price by dealers at the crucial time of raising plants. Taking action, the department has suspended more than 500 such dealers on charges of anomalies in fertilizer distribution, officials claimed.

    Kerala-based Popular Finance, which recently collapsed with Rs 2,000 crore of depositors’ money, unauthorisedly mobilised funds despite the warning from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) eight years ago. As per Reports, the firm had 2,000 employees and 274 branches in various states, including Karnataka, Haryana, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, when it closed down last month amid allegations of fund diversion, mismanagement and violation of various laws and regulations.
