Corona updates, farmers protest, exports, donations, weather

  • Uttarakhand exports millets to Denmark

    Uttarakhand which is a major millet producer, has started exporting these to Denmark. Processed millets like processed ragi, jhingora are to be exported, as demand for these is high in the international market.

  • Growth in export of Organic food

    India's exports of Organic foods like oil seeds, grain, tea, coffee, pulses, spices and others has increased by almost 40 percent in a year. These products are exported to USA, Europe, Israel and others.

  • International donations of equipment and supplies

    India has received equipment and supplies as donations mostly from western countries alongside some Asian countries. These are being distributed to the various states based on their requirements, in fight against Corona. The states have also been given more than 17 Crore free vaccines by the central government.

  • Corona spreading to rural areas in India

    Indian countryside, where Corona cases have not be announced much, now seems to be affected by it. The medical facilities in these rural areas is not as good as in the urban areas. However in rural areas the villages and farms are distant, hence not much physical contact is expected, hence it can be limited by following proper quarantine instructions.

  • Colombia protests blocking Coffee exports

    Protests in Colombia are blocking the route for vehicles carrying coffee to the ports. This appears to be unintentional but can harm the coffee industry in the country.

  • Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and parts of Maharashtra to see rainfall

    Uttarakhand and Jharkhand will face heavy rainfall today. Parts of Maharashtra will face rainfall with thunderstorms.

  • Badrinath trust to be awarded Rs. 99.60 crores for development

    Shri Badrinath Utthan Charitable Trust will be given Rs. 99.60 crores for development work in Badrinath. River embankment work, building bridges, drinking water facilities, installing streetlights and other infrastructure work will be done by the trust. These funds have been promised by Oil and Gas PSUs.

  • High Flow Rate Iron Removal Plant Technology transferred by CSIR

    Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CSIR) transferred its High Flow Rate Iron Removal Plant Technology to Maa Durga Sales Agency of Guwahati. The company has been working on reducing the iron content in some of the Assamese areas suffering from Iron contamination. This company will install its iron filters wherever required in Assam.

  • New strategy to gain self-sufficiency in pulses production

    A special plan has been constructed for this Kharif 2021 season to increase the production of pulses in such a way, so as to achieve self-sufficiency. The plan is to distribute high yielding varieties of seeds to farmers for free, and this will be done at a large scale so as to boost the production of pulses.

  • Protests by French fishermen over fishing territory

    French fishermen are protesting as they are now not allowed to fish in British waters. After the exit of UK from the EU, all the rules about a number of factors have changed, fishing being one of them.
