Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa has called for proactive measures to be taken ahead of the upcoming monsoon season. As the chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Bairwa presided over a meeting to assess the preparedness for the monsoon and instructed all administrative and departmental officers to make necessary arrangements.

During the meeting, Bairwa emphasized the importance of promptly reporting any information regarding disasters to the District Emergency Operation Centre. He urged officers to use the toll-free number 1077 to relay such information immediately, followed by a detailed report. This would enable the authorities to respond swiftly and efficiently to any emergencies.

To ensure a coordinated and effective response, Bairwa directed various departments to identify areas prone to floods, landslides, waterlogging, and other natural calamities within their respective jurisdictions.

Sub-divisional magistrates, as well as officers from the Public Works, Jal Shakti, Revenue, Agriculture, Horticulture, Police, and Home Guard departments, were entrusted with this task.

Furthermore, Bairwa stressed the need to station machinery and rescue teams at vulnerable locations. By proactively positioning these resources, the authorities can minimize the response time in case of emergencies. Additionally, Bairwa called for the cleaning of drains in urban areas and the removal of trees that pose a threat during heavy rainfall and strong winds.

Recognizing the potential increase in water-borne diseases during the monsoon season, Bairwa specifically instructed the Jal Shakti department to ensure the cleanliness of all drinking water sources.

This precautionary measure aims to safeguard public health and prevent the spread of diseases associated with contaminated water.
