Till May 5, the IMD predicts strong heatwave conditions in Gangetic West Bengal, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Karnataka, Gujarat, parts of Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.

The IMD's latest weather forecasts indicate a grim picture for many parts of the country. From May 3 to May 5, heatwave to severe heatwave conditions is expected to persist in parts of Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar.

Additionally, isolated areas in Telangana, Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Gujarat, and Odisha are likely to experience heatwave conditions over the next four days.

Furthermore, regions like Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Vidarbha, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and southern Rajasthan are also at risk of experiencing sweltering temperatures during this period.

In addition to the heatwave warnings, the IMD has also forecasted humid weather in coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe throughout the week. Moreover, Konkan is expected to witness humid conditions on May 5, 2024.

However, amidst the heat, there is a silver lining for some regions as the IMD anticipates rainfall. From May 2 to May 8, fairly widespread light to moderate rains accompanied by isolated thunderstorms, lightning, and breezes are expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Assam, Meghalaya, Sikkim, and Tripura.

Isolated heavy rains are forecasted over Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on May 5 and May 6, with Sikkim likely to experience heavy rains over the weekend.

Further, regions including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh may witness isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall or snowfall accompanied by lightning between May 3 and May 6. Meanwhile, West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, and West Rajasthan are expected to receive isolated rains during specific periods in early May.

Additionally, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal are likely to experience isolated to scattered showers with thunderstorms and lightning from May 3 to May 5, with the rainfall increasing thereafter from May 6 to May 9. There's also a possibility of isolated hailstorms in Odisha.

Moreover, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Telangana, and Karnataka could witness scattered showers with thunderstorms and lightning between May 3 and May 8.

As the weather remains unpredictable, citizens are urged to stay hydrated, take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses, and remain updated with the latest weather advisories.
