The Founder & CEO of Living Greens Organics Pvt Ltd, Prateek Tiwari, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Founder & Editor-in-Chief, Krishi Jagran, MC Dominic, on Monday, May 15, 2023 with an aim to infuse urbanisation with soilless organicpedia. Due to increasing industrialisation and deforestation, mercury in cities is soaring beyond imagination.
Is there an escape from this toxicity building in the air? The man who calls himself a dream seller has promised to cover all buildings with greens. However, with the purpose of bringing a revolution in the organic food industry, as their expertise. Not only this, aromatic and medicinal plants are also a click away for people who are keen to grow a plant at home. The utmost clarity of his idea about growing the right food and making cities greener, propelled PM Narendra Modi to ask, “Mr Tiwari, can this become a part of our smart city program?”
Prateek Tiwari, an agriculture engineer, left well paid and secured job at Walmart in 2013 to pursue a dream of making organic farming easy. He provides light portable greenhouses to his customers that can cover the rooftop, also, he has plans for those who want to see a few plants on their balcony or they have space constraints. Everyone can afford to eat pure, veggies, fruits, spices, and herbs comfortably while sitting in the living room. While the service reaching across the globe, Prateek Tiwari, Living Greens’ Founder, said, “We are growing strawberries and bottle gourd on the terraces of Pathankot.” But, how?
Organic Farming Becomes Cakewalk
Portable Farming System
Living Greens is giving lightweight manure in a compact greenhouse where all seasonal fruits and veggies can be grown. It comes at a one-time payment of Rs 20,000 only. It comes with an automatic drainage system, which is hassle-free.
Organic Plant Protection Kit
This will be including sprays and root application for the plant. It would consist of seven sprays for a week. This would last for four months – one crop season – at a price of Rs 3000.
Maintenance
A person from living greens can come and check your plant, in fact, he can spray the seven sprays on the plants. This is chargeable at Rs 500-600 per visit.
If we are going to make our plant so dependent on the sprays and protection, how is it going to give a product equivalent to that grown in a field? A crop gets destroyed also and only the best product reaches to the customer, which has been through thick and thin to survive. In short, antioxidants, an important nutrient in a fruit that makes it organic, are developed only when a plant fights the pests itself. And, if there are so many protection kits coming with this model, will the fruit be able to meet the standards?
“We are not easing the stress of a plant. We let it fight at 40C and with the pests, because we understand that anything that when a plant undergoes stress, it generates natural chemicals known as secondary metabolites,” Prateek Tiwari, Living Greens’ Founder, said.
Moreover, the company has come up with an idea to convert the rooftops of factories as well. It plans to start a plant doctor programme, where free consultation will be given to home growers who need help.
“All you need to do to use this system efficiently is move your fingers around the manure daily, clean the yellow leaves, and spray,” he said.
