    The Rubber Research Institute of India (RRII) will conduct confined field trials of newly developed genetically modified (GM) rubber plants at its Guwahati regional research station's Sarutari Farm, according to its director Jessy MD. "The trials will be conducted on one acre of farmland in accordance with the Biotechnology Department's standard operating procedures. The stress-tolerance traits, disease incidence, and yield will be evaluated for 15 years before commercialization," she said.

    Nigerian Breweries Plc (NB Plc), a subsidiary of Heineken International, has signed another green energy agreement with CrossBoundary Energy, a developer, owner, and operator of distributed renewable energy solutions for businesses across Africa, to deliver clean energy to its two facilities, Ibandan and Ama. CrossBoundary Energy will upgrade the current renewable energy system at NB's Ibadan Brewery from a 663 kWp solar PV plant to a hybrid solar-plus-storage facility consisting of a 3 MWp solar PV system and a 2 MW/2 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).

    Zimbabwe launched its first nano-satellite into space on Monday in an effort to collect data to monitor disasters, boost agriculture, and improve mineral mapping.
    As part of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) multi-nation project, a rocket carrying the tiny satellite, dubbed ZIMSAT-1, successfully launched from Virginia in the United States alongside Uganda's first satellite.
