  • NABARD to focus on computerisation of PACS

    National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) celebrated its 41st foundation day in Bengaluru. Entering the fifth decade, Nabard would focus on the preservation and conservation of water, promotion of integrated farming, improving the adaptation of technology in farming, and computerisation of primary agriculture cooperative credit societies (PACS) across the country.
  • WayCool Foods’ Launches New Freshey’s Product

    Freshey, the ready-to-cook (RTC) brand from the house of WayCool Foods today announced the launch of Freshey’s Paneer. This is a new addition to its robust value-added dairy products portfolio. Launching its first product – Paneer, under this category, the brand aims to further strengthen its foothold in the dairy industry and to triple its revenue from dairy in this fiscal year. Freshey’s started its journey in the RTC market with the launch of batters and has gradually expanded its offerings with a fine selection of accompaniments, kitchen ingredients to dairy products like ghee and curd.   • Poultry industry faces severe shortage of talent

    India’s poultry sector is growing at 8-10 per cent annually. S Harish, Chief Human Resources Officer of Coimbatore-based poultry group Suguna Holdings Pvt Ltd. Said there is hampered by a shortage of talent. There are two main reasons for this: lack of awareness about the available job opportunity; and lack of interest in the sector among jobseekers, many students, even in rural areas, hesitates to enter the industry as they don’t consider it lucrative and every profession has its own charm. That’s why the Suguna group started the Suguna Institute of Poultry Management (SIPM) in 2012 to help meet its own staff requirement as well as that of others in the industry. The need is for professionals who can understand and support the techno-commercial aspects of poultry.

  • Corteva Agriscience announced the expansion of its seed treatment portfolio

    Corteva Agriscience announced the expansion of its seed treatment portfolio with the introduction of two new seed treatment packages, containing multiple new products, available for corn and canola farmers across Canada for the 2023 growing season. It takes years of evaluation to bring a new product to market and this year, we are proud to be launching two new LumiGEN® seed treatment packages for Canadian canola and corn farmers.

  • Shares of Varun Beverages up by 2 per cent

    Shares of Varun Beverages (VBL) hit a new high of Rs 870, up 2 per cent on the BSE trade in an otherwise subdued market, on expectation of strong earnings. VBL is a key player in beverage industry and one of the largest franchisee of PepsiCo in the world (outside USA). The company produces and distributes a wide range of carbonated soft drinks (CSDs) as well as large selection of non-carbonated beverages (NCBs), including packaged drinking water sold under the trademark of PepsiCo.
  • Nigeria's Crown Flour Mills to Import 500,000 mt of Wheat from India

    Crown Flour Mills, a Nigerian subsidiary of multinational food and agribusiness company Olam International, has been granted permission by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment to import 500,000 mt of wheat from India.  CFM's Managing Director, Ashish Pande, said of the move to strengthen its wheat supply chain, "As a highly productive company and contributor to Nigeria's food security agenda, we strive consistently to provide affordable and healthy food for the populace."

  • Dept. of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare & IRRI Sign Agreement on Commencement of Phase -2 Activities of ISARC

    In order to expand the current collaboration for food and nutrition security in the South Asian region, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed today by the Department of Agriculture & Farmer Welfare (DA&FW) and International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) on the start of Phase 2 activities of the ISARC. The Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Tomar, witnessed the signing of the Agreement by Dr. Jean Balié, Director General, IRRI, and Manoj Ahuja, Secretary, DA&FW. Five years ago, the Union Cabinet's assent led to the establishment of the ISARC. In addition, ISARC established the Centre of Excellence in Rice Value Addition (CERVA), which has a cutting-edge laboratory that can assess the quality and level of heavy metals in grain and straw.
