UAS, Bengaluru Develop New Maize Hybrid that Stays Green
University of Agricultural Sciences, Bengaluru, has developed two new corn hybrids that stay green on the fields during the time of harvest, thereby enhancing their value as a forage. The new hybrids MAH 14-138 and MAH 15-84, developed from existing parent lines, are high yielding and stay lush green on the fields till the harvest, said HC Lohitashwa, a corn breeder.

UP Govt Advises Sugar Mills to Maintain Transparency in Ethanol Output
The newly adopted sugarcane molasses policy is the means by which the Uttar Pradesh government has chosen to curb alcohol abuse. It has instructed sugar mills to uphold transparency in the ethanol production process using sugarcane syrup and juice. According to the new sugarcane molasses policy, Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister, has ordered sugar mills to reserve at least 20% of the total molasses production. According to a state government spokesperson, specific restrictions have been put on exports to other states and countries due to the high demand for molasses.

Referring to the Central Government's schemes for farmers, Tomar stated that the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is nothing short of a boon for farmers, and that every farmer should take advantage of it. Under this scheme, farmers have received compensation totaling Rs 1.24 lakh crore over the last six years.

Farmers Cannot Be Blamed: NHRC's Take on Stubble Burning Hold States Responsible
The NHRC said that farmers cannot be blamed for the falling AQI in Delhi-NCR, but instead, all four state governments are responsible for this situation. "The farmers are burning stubble under compulsion, but they are doing so because of the failure of the government", it added.
