Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, September 10, 2023, handed over the G20 presidency to Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, at the closing ceremony in Delhi. Brazil and India marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations. They emphasized shared objectives, including the pursuit of peace, cooperation, and sustainable development. The two leaders reiterated their mutual support for permanent membership in the UNSC. Marine Scientists Unravel Genetic Mysteries of the Indian Oil Sardine
A group of scientists at the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) has accomplished a significant scientific feat by decoding the entire genetic blueprint, or genome, of the Indian oil sardine (Sardinella longiceps), a commonly consumed fish in India. This groundbreaking achievement marks the first time that the genome of a marine fish species originating from the Indian subcontinent has been unraveled. CMFRI Director A Gopalakrishnan has hailed this accomplishment as a major milestone in Indian marine fisheries. The decoded genome promises to be an invaluable resource for advancing our understanding of the oil sardine's biology, ecology, and evolution.

Nipah Virus in Kerala, Several Lives At Risk
According to the state government's announcement on Tuesday, two individuals lost their lives as a result of the Nipah virus, while two others have contracted the virus in Kerala's Kozhikode district. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan confirmed the presence of Nipah virus infection in the district, stating in a Facebook post that among the four individuals whose saliva samples were tested, two tested positive for Nipah, while the other two tested negative. The Chief Minister has urged the public to stay calm and follow health department guidelines in response to the Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala's Kozhikode district.

Millets Conclave to be Inaugurated by NABARD Chairman Shaji KV on Sept 15
Shaji KV, who serves as the Chairman of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), will be delivering the opening speech at the NABARD Millets Conclave in Hyderabad on September 15. Additionally, the event will include virtual presentations by Himanshu Pathak, Secretary (DARE) and Director-General of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and Abhishek Dev, Chairman of the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). The main focus of the conclave will revolve around discussions on ways to enhance the nutritional and financial well-being of all the sectors involved in millet production. India is the world's leading producer of millets, which are known for their nutritional benefits and potential to help manage diabetes.

President Murmu Says Protect Farmers’ Rights And Future During The Seminar Organized By ITPGRFA and FAO
During a global seminar on farmers' rights organized by the ITPGRFA and FAO, President Droupadi Murmu emphasized the need for concrete actions to protect traditional seed varieties and promote eco-friendly farming practices.
