  • Cabinet approves hike in sugarcane FRP by Rs 10 to Rs 285 per quintal for 2020-21

    The Government on Wednesday (19th August 2020) decided to hike the minimum price sugar mills pay to the sugarcane growers by Rs 10 to Rs 285/quintal for the next marketing year that starts in October, as per official sources. Meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs or CCEA  took the decision to increase the Fair & Remunerative Price (FRP) of sugarcane for the marketing year 2020-21 (October-September).

  • Weather India: Delhi-NRC witness heavy rainfall; temperature drops

    Weather Updates: Delhi has been receiving rainfall since today morning (19th August 2020), bringing down the temperature and waterlogging in many areas. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), more rainfall is expected in the days to come.

    Rainfall flooded the roads causing major traffic jams during rush hour and also caused damage to property.

     

  • India's basmati rice output to be higher than last year's level due to good rainfall

    Basmati rice production in India this year is expected to be 7 percent higher than last year’s level at 8 million tonnes, as per a rice exporters’ association, after good rainfall & availability of farm hands during the sowing period. Executive Director of All India Rice Exporters Association (AIREA), Vinod Kaul said, “Production of basmati rice would be higher this year that is good for the industry. Domestic consumption is increasing & newer markets for exports are opening up”.

  • Coronavirus Test Compulsory for Legislators before UP Assembly Session Tomorrow

    The 3-day Monsoon Session of UP Assembly will start on 20th August 2020, with authorities making special seating arrangements following Coronavirus protocols & setting up testing centres near residences of the MLAs for easy collection of swab samples. Hriday Narayan Dixit, Assembly Speaker said all members will have to undergo COVID-19 test in a day & there will also be thermal screening facility outside the House.

  • Google Introduces Kormo Jobs app in India to help people search entry-level jobs

    Google said today (19th Aug 2020) said that it has expanded its jobs app, known as Kormo Jobs, to India as the Search giant plans to offer a helping hand to millions of people looking for entry-level roles & further shift Microsoft’s LinkedIn importance in the world’s second largest internet market.
