  • ICAR-IARI Successfully Wraps Up 5-Day Training Program on Agricultural & Industrial Waste Management

    On May 15th, 2023, the inauguration of a comprehensive five-day training programme on Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Agricultural and Industrial Waste Management for Environmental Sustainability took place. The program was inaugurated by renowned Padma Bhushan Prof (Dr.) R B Singh. A total of 49 participants, including 15 from various states in India and two international candidates from Korea and Nepal, registered for the training. The participants came from diverse educational backgrounds, representing a wide range of fields. Notably, 34% of the participants were women.

  • CSIR-NPL Celebrates World Metrology Day 2023 with a Focus on Measurements Supporting Global Food System

    Prof. Prabhat K Nema emphasized the crucial role of Metrology in scientific activities, particularly in the food sector. He stressed the importance of standardization in food processing methods and highlighted the challenges and opportunities for metrological sciences in this field. CSIR-National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL) organized a successful celebration of World Metrology Day (WMD) 2023 on May 19th, 2023. The event, held in collaboration with the Metrology Society of India (MSI), commemorated the signing of the Metre Convention on May 20th, 1875, which involved representatives from seventeen nations.

  • Tur Traders Advocate for Promotion of Alternative Pulses

    Indians' adoration for arhar or tur dal is causing distress for traders and the processing industry as the production struggles to keep up with the soaring demand. Wholesale prices of this popular lentil have surged by approximately 60%. Tur traders are now urging the government to launch a nationwide campaign to educate consumers about consuming other pulses like chana, masur, moong, and yellow peas, which are abundantly available at lower prices.

  • J-K's ACS Atal Dulloo Inaugurates Veterinary Hospital in Pattan to Boost Animal Care Services

    Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Agriculture Production Department, Atal Dulloo, paid a visit to Pattan on Thursday i.e., May 18 where he inaugurated a Veterinary hospital and a mega fertility camp as part of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), according to an official release. Upon inaugurating the Veterinary hospital, Atal Dulloo emphasized that it would greatly enhance animal care and treatment in the area. He noted that the hospital, built at a cost of Rs 1.92 crore, would be equipped with modern amenities such as a drug store, medical facility, and an operation theatre, along with quarters for doctors and staff.
