    Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, and Labour and Employment Bhupender Yadav actively participated in the G20 Mega Beach Clean Up campaign held at Juhu Beach in Mumbai today. The campaign, which received immense support from G20 nations and 37 locations across India, aimed to raise awareness about marine waste and its impact on the environment. Dignitaries such as Governor of Maharashtra Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde, Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ashwini Kumar Choubey, and Minister of Maharashtra Shri Mangal Prabhat Lodha, along with Environment Secretary Leena Nandan and other senior officials, graced the occasion.

  • KVIC Celebrates Diamond Jubilee at Central Bee Research Training Institute, Pune

    In line with Mahatma Gandhi's vision and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for a ‘sweet revolution’ along with the white revolution, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) celebrated its Diamond Jubilee on World Bee Day. The event focused on creating awareness about the vital role of bees and other pollinators in maintaining human health and addressing various challenges. The highlight of the event was the inauguration of a honey parlour and exhibition, showcasing the significance of honey production and its various applications. The CBRTI also released a short film highlighting its journey and achievements in the field of beekeeping. The institute recognized and awarded scientists, beekeepers, and employees of the Commission for their exceptional work in promoting beekeeping.

  • DAHD Responds Swiftly to Lumpy Skin Disease Outbreak in West Bengal

    The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, has taken immediate action to address the concerns of livestock farmers in Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts of West Bengal regarding the outbreak of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in cattle and buffaloes. The response from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying was swift, with all necessary steps being taken to provide technical and financial support in close coordination with the state and district officials of the Animal Husbandry Department (AHD). Upon field verification, it has been confirmed that there have been no cattle deaths due to LSD in Darjeeling and Kalimpong. However, approximately 400 unvaccinated cattle in Darjeeling and 2000 in Kalimpong have been infected, with 200 and 1200 respectively having already recovered.

    In a significant move towards combating land degradation and promoting sustainable land management practices, India has inaugurated the Centre of Excellence on Sustainable Land Management (CoE-SLM) at the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun. Bhupendra Yadav, Union Minister of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, Government of India, attended the CoE-SLM's formal inauguration on May 20, 2019. The CoE-SLM strives to enhance South-South cooperation and address land degradation challenges through sustainable land management practices. It is consistent with the Indian government's environmental protection and climate change mitigation objective.
