  • Jamia Millia Islamia Students to Visit Malkangiri Forest to Enhance Forest Based Economy

    The AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (AJKMCRC) at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and the Bharti Institute of Public Policy (BIPP) at the Indian School of Business (ISB) have joined forces in an exciting collaboration aimed at transforming the lives of forest dwellers and local communities. Their inaugural project, which began with the first cohort of the MA Development Communication program this year, focuses on building a scalable and sustainable forest economy with a special emphasis on Community Forest Resource Rights (CFR) and Women-led Enterprises.

  • Most Methane Mitigation Policies Insufficient in Addressing Emissions, Study Finds

    Methane mitigation measures only address 13% of methane emissions worldwide, according to a recent research study published in Cell Press. The current rules to reduce methane emissions are not strict enough. Over a 20-year period, methane is 80 times more powerful than carbon dioxide. According to the International Energy Agency, it is to blame for around 30% of the increase in global temperatures since the Industrial Revolution. Methane comes from three main sources: fossil fuels, solid waste, and wastewater as well as agriculture.

  • Offshore Wind Farms Work as Coolant Power Sources for Seismic Resilience in Nuclear Plants: Study

    The study proposes leveraging sustainable wind energy to enhance cooling power requirements of Nuclear Power Plants and was carried out at an existing nuclear power plant in India, Madras Atomic Power Station, Chennai. Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur researchers, in collaboration with experts from the University of Surrey, Tsinghua University, and the Institute of Engineering Mechanics, have published a groundbreaking study in the Nuclear Engineering and Design Journal. The research focuses on enhancing the safety and reliability of cooling power sources in nuclear power plants, particularly during seismic events.

  • PBFIA to Host 2nd Edition of Plant-Based Foods Summit on May 25, 2023

    The Plant Based Foods Industry Association (PBFIA) will host the 2nd Plant-Based Foods Summit on May 25, 2023, with support from the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). The event will take place at Hotel Le Meridien in Windsor Place, New Delhi, and is expected to attract prominent figures from the plant-based foods industry.
